DESCRIPTION
ALCOSIN are alcohol resistant aqua film forming fire fighting foam concentrates produced carefully controlled blend of high activity selective special C6 fluorosurfactant and hydrocarbon surfactants with various solvents, preservatives, stabilizers and selective special chemical additives to provide superior fire and vapor suppression for Class B, polar solvent and hydrocarbon fuel fires. ALCOSIN solution utilizes three suppression
mechanisms intended for rapid fire knockdown and superior burnback resistance. On polar solvents an insoluble polymer membrane is formed which protects the foam blanket from the destructive effects of the solvent. Versatile, eliminating the need to stock a variety of foam types.
APPLICATIONS
ALCOSIN is suitable for use in situations where hydrocarbons ( such as diesel fuel, gasoline, crude oil ) and where polar solvents (such as alcohols, ketones, esters and ethers) are stored, processed or transported. It is used extensively by hemical, oil and petrochemical companies for storage tank fire protection.
ALCOSIN is principally recommended for protection against fire in :
- Polar Solvents and Hydrocarbon solvents storage tanks
- Chemical Plants, Petroleum Plants and Refineries
- Flammable liquid containment areas
- Offshore platforms, Marine terminals and vessels
- Hydrocarbon stroge tanks and power stations
- Process areas, Warehouses
C6 FLUOROCHEMICALS EQUIPMENT
The environmentally friendly ALCOSIN formulation contains short-chain C6 fluorochemicals produced using a telomere-based process. The telomere process does not produce PFOS and the C6 fluorochemicals do not break down to produce PFOA. The fluorochemicals used in the concentrate comply with the objectives of the EPA 2010/15 PFOA Management Program.
EQUIPMENT
ALCOSIN is suitable for use in combination with :
Soft or hard, fresh or sea water.
Dry powder extinguishing agents either separately or as twin agent systems.
ALCOSIN properties do not change in case of frost. It recovers its initial properties as soon as it is defrosted.
ALCOSIN can be applied with aspirating and non-aspirating discharge devices. Aspirating discharge devices typically produce expansion ratios from 5 to 10, depending on the type of device and the flow rate. Non-aspirating devices, such as handline water fog/stream nozzles or standard sprinkler heads, typically produce expansion ratios from 2:1 to 4:1.
Medium-expansion discharge devices typically produce expansion ratios from 20:1 to 80:1.
High Expansion generators typically produce expansion ratios from 200:1 to 800:1.
