DESCRIPTION
FILMOGEN is low expansion film forming fluoroprotein fire fighting foam concentrate for extinguishing and securing flammable hydrocarbon liquid fires. The protein based provides a adhesive foam blanket with high resistance to heat that quickly smoothers, cools and seals the risk. Fluorochemical surface active agents combined with the protein base increase the fluidity and fuel repellency of the foam. The blend of fluorochemicals selected is effective in reducing the surface tension of water as well as the interfacial tension between water and oil sufficiently low to give stable film on the surface of the fuel and as a result it gives fire extinguishing rates superior to those obtained with based compounds.
APPLICATIONS
It is suitable for use in situations where hydrocarbons (such as diesel fuel, gasoline, crude oil) are stored, processed and transported. It is especially used by petroleum and petrochemical companies to protect hydrocarbon storage tanks against fire.
FILMOGEN can be ideal for fixed, semi-fixed, and emergency response firefighting applications such as:
- Hydrocarbon fuel storage tanks
- Hydrocarbon fuel industrial/processing facilities
- Refineries and Petroleum Plants
- Power Stations
- Flammable liquid containment areas
- Docks and on-board marine systems
C6 FLUOROCHEMICALS
The environmentally friendly FILMOGEN formulation contains short-chain C6 fluorochemicals produced using a telomere-based process. The telomere process does not produce PFOS and the C6 fluorochemicals do not break down to produce PFOA. The fluorochemicals used in the concentrate comply with the objectives of the EPA 2010/15 PFOA Management Program.
EQUIPMENT
FILMOGEN is suitable for use in combination with :
Soft or hard, fresh or sea water.
Dry powder extinguishing agents either separately or as twin agent systems.
FILMOGEN properties do not change in case of frost. It recovers its initial properties as soon as it is defrosted.
FILMOGEN can be used with air aspirating discharge devices such as low expansion branchpipes, monitors, foam/water sprinkler and nonaspirating discharge devices such as spray/fog branchpipes and nozzles, monitors, and spray/fog sprinklers for fast fire knockdown.
